The settlement comes more than three years after Diane Schachner suffered serious leg injuries when she was dragged nearly 30 feet by a CTA bus.
“Diane’s life has been upended by this incident,” her attorney Patrick Salvi said in a statement. “While she has worked hard towards recovery, she will never regain anything close to her physical capabilities pre-injury.”
According to her attorneys, as she crossed the intersection, a CTA bus turned left and the driver failed to see her. Schachner's attorneys said she suffered a fractured ankle and “a severe crush and degloving injury” that required multiple medical procedures.
