CCTV images have been released of a man who may have information about the assault
Merseyside Police said the incident happened on a bus travelling from Queen Square to St Helens Bus Station. The offence happened on Friday, September 29 at around 10.30pm.
The victim, who was a young woman, got off the bus which stopped on Warrington Road in Prescot whilst the offender remained on the vehicle. Since the incident officers have carried out extensive CCTV examinations and witness enquiries and detectives have issued CCTV images of a man they believe could assist with their investigation.
Detective Inspector Richie Shillito said: "Incidents such as these can cause serious distress to any victim and are totally unacceptable. Everyone should be able to use public transport in our city and feel safe. "The victim was left scared and understandably upset by this man’s awful behaviour and did the right thing in contacting police. If you recognise the man pictured then please let us know, as we believe he may hold information vital to our ongoing investigation.
