Paige Tomlinson taught herself how to be a DJ
A woman knew what she wanted to do after her first few nights out in town as a teenager. Paige Tomlinson, 26, lives in Widnes but is originally from Huyton. Eight years ago as an 18 year-old, she noticed something very quickly while she was out clubbing in Liverpool city centre . Speaking to the ECHO, Paige said: “I started going out to the clubs in town and just realised there were just not a lot of female DJs, especially playing house music at the time, and I was like a big lover of music.
That just wouldn't happen to another male artist. “I do feel like we're looked down upon as if we can't DJ. But girls can do exactly what men can do. Hopefully it is getting better as time goes on. But especially back when I started, it was really hard to get my foot in the door because people didn't really take me seriously as a female. Luckily it's worked out in my favour.
