Joyce Deacon says she's worried discount shops are 'ripping people off'.
Joyce Deacon is angry over discount stores ‘ripping people off’ A woman is fuming at the price increase of a water bottle she bought from a discount store. Joyce Deacon says she bought the bottle for £2.50 in a summer sale in a Poundstretcher shop. But when she returned just over a month later because she needed to buy a replacement bottle, she saw it was on the shelves for £4.
She said she reluctantly parted with £4 for the replacement bottle but decided to complain to head office about it. Poundstretcher confirmed they did receive Joyce’s complaint and investigated the issue. They found the water bottle had actually been on sale for £5 earlier in the year, and it had been in a half price sale over summer – which is why it was £2.50.
