A woman was killed in a fire at a home in the Stemmons Corridor early Saturday, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.
The fire was reported about 3:40 a.m. in the 1400 block of Briar Cliff Road, near Inwood Road and Interstate 35E. Firefighters found heavy fire on one side of a single-story home, Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said. Inside, they found a woman in her late 70s on the floor of a bedroom.The woman’s daughter made it out of the home safely, Evans said.
Authorities said a neighbor tried to rescue the victim but was forced out of the home when the roof partially collapsed. Firefighters believe the fire started in a bedroom before making its way into an attic. The cause of the fire is still undetermined, Evans said.
