A man was arrested at the scene but has since been released
Police, paramedics and the fire service arrived at the scene, on Birkenhead Road at its junction with Lee Road just after 1.45pm, on Saturday, October 1. At the scene they found a 72-year-old woman had been hit by a Mercedes Sprinter van.
The driver of the van, a 51-year-old man from the Wirral was arrested and taken into police custody. He has since been interviewed and released under investigation. Detectives are appealing for any witnesses, CCTV and dash camera footage which may assist the investigation.
