The woman was booted from board meetings for three months over comments she made against Supervisor Matt Heinz, but was allowed back sooner amid public pushback.

Tatyana Johnson For the Arizona Daily Star A woman banned from Pima County Board of Supervisors meetings for remarks made against Supervisor Matt Heinz during the call to the public is allowed to return this week.

Following the incident, some speakers at the part of the meeting that allows for open-ended public comment have criticized Heinz over the incident. As a result of her continued remarks, Requard received a letter from Brown, under the direction of Grijalva, for the three-month ban from county meetings.

“We can avoid a lot of that. It’ll make the entire situation more palatable. It will restore the rights of the individual who has been sitting out in the lobby for three sessions now, and we can make it all whole by simply following what this law firm has concluded,” Christy said during the meeting. Heinz said that he hopes the board can come together to discuss, agree upon and enforce the rules of decorum to allow for meaningful comments from members of the public.
