Paramedics and firefighters were called to the scene earlier today
A 70-year-old woman had to be rescued from a car before being taken to hospital after a crash in Salford.
Paramedics and firefighters were called to the scene on Cadishead Way, in the Irlam area, at around 2.30pm this afternoon . The crash involved one car, the fire service said. The woman had to freed from the car by fire crews, who were working at the scene for around one and a half hours. She was then taken to hospital by paramedics, a spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said.It has not been yet been confirmed how serious her injuries are. The Manchester Evening News understands that a section of the road was closed off for some time while emergency services dealt with the incident.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service said: "At 2.30pm this afternoon firefighters were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving one vehicle on Cadishead Way, Irlam. Fire crews from Irlam fire station attended the scene where they quickly extricated one female casualty from a vehicle before conveying her to the care of North West Ambulance Service.
