GP Dr Babak Ashrafi has highlighted three problems with a number of solutions
As the temperatures drop and winter takes hold, many of us find ourselves retreating indoors to escape the cold. While we all know that the winter season can affect our clothing choices, heating bills, and even mood, what might surprise some is the impact that cold weather can have on our sex lives.
Dr Babak Ashrafi , a general practitioner from Superdrug Online Doctor, specialising in sexual health, has revealed the ways in which the winter months can negatively impact our sex lives and how we can reduce its impact.Seasonal Affective Disorder is a type of depression that typically occurs during the autumn and winter months when there is less natural sunlight.
Similarly, for women, exposure to cold temperatures can result in the constriction of blood vessels. This vasoconstriction may decrease blood flow to the genital area, thereby making it more challenging to experience sexual arousal and achieve adequate lubrication.
