2028 Olympics will be a bust in Southern Cal
Not only financially but politically and culturally, as well. Times have changed since the 1984 Olympiad, never to return. This Earth is a much less-friendlier place nowadays, not only between countries but within nations themselves. The Olympics has long been a worldwide showcase pitting athletes against one another in a facade masking the true political motivations behind the games. Cheating scandals have risen dramatically in recent years and will continue as science will develop newer and better protocols to avoid detection.
All we can do is hope clear-minded heads will emerge and lead the 2028 games to a pristine environment bereft of politics, cultural hatred, prejudice and violence. Once again allow the athletes to experience “the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat,” to quote Jim McKay on “The Wide World of Sports” TV coverage in the 1960 Olympiad.
