The American Heart Association Fairbanks Heart Walk has been postponed to Sept. due to poor air quality.
FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The American Heart Association 2023 Fairbanks Heart Walk has been postponed due to poor air quality. Kristin George, the Executive Director of American Heart Association Alaska explained the wildfires surrounding the Fairbanks area are not only impacting the event but also the participants.wildfires not only does it affect respiratory health but it effects cardiovascular health.
The event which was originally scheduled for this Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Carlson Center is now rescheduled to Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023. The theme of this year’s heart walk is, “I walk to save lives” with a focus on raising funds to fight heart disease and stroke. This year the association is currently a little over $82,000 of their goal of reaching $250,000.
