Pensioner Caroline McVicar, from Hamilton, was left with a 'shell' of a kitchen after the collapse of DM Design in Cumbernauld but a big-hearted firm has now come to her rescue.
A widow who handed her £15,000 life savings to a well known firm days before it went bust was overjoyed yesterday after being gifted a brand new kitchen.
Gran-of-five Caroline had handed over the last of the cash for her £15,000 kitchen at the end of February. She had bought a new home and put the last of her savings into the kitchen after months of sleeping on relatives’ couches. But within hours of Caroline’s story appearing in the Daily Record, Instyle Kitchens and Bathrooms, which has showrooms in Paisley and Greenock, had arranged to supply and fit her new kitchen for free.
Business advisory firm FRP Advisory said it had been appointed as Joint Provisional Liquidators on March 8 and the business has now ceased trading, with all 31 employees made redundant.
