The new fees will apply from 2 February. The cost of online applications for a standard passport will increase from £75.50 to £82.50 for adults and £49 to £53.50 for children – a rise of more than 9 per cent, compared to the previous increase of four per cent. The Home Office says that the Government “does not make any profit from the cost of passport applications.”
