Despite having the Mind Stone, Paul Bettany's Vision failed to defend himself from Thanos and the Black Order in Avengers: Infinity War.
Paul Bettany's Vision couldn't do much during Avengers: Infinity War despite being an extremely powerful MCU hero. Designed by Ultron and completed by Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, and Thor, Vision was born strong enough to beat up Ultron effortlessly and innocent enough to lift Thor's Mjolnir. Vision had to hold back during Iron Man and Captain America's fight in Captain America: Civil War, and he didn't believe in using brute force to resolve conflicts.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Captain America: Civil War's aftermath left the Avengers divided and with no way to communicate in a timely manner. While Thor, Loki, and Hulk were failing to defend the surviving Asgardians from Thanos and the Black Order, Captain America, Black Widow, and Falcon were in hiding and Tony Stark was busy trying to live a relatively normal life with Pepper Potts.
Vision's Power Level In Infinity War Makes His Death Even Sadder The feeling of powerlessness in Scarlet Witch and the Avengers' efforts to save Vision makes the synthezoid's death especially tragic, but what makes it even worse is that the MCU never let Vision show his full power. Vision always held back so he wouldn't cause more conflict than necessary, and just when the time came to save Earth, he barely could stand on his feet.
It seems like White Vision's consciousness has downloaded the original Vision's memories. While difficult, it's possible that White Vision will slowly transform into a slightly familiar version of the original synthezoid and remember Wanda Maximoff and the Avengers. Still, White Vision is the product of SWORD's attempts to rebuild Vision and use his body as a mindless weapon.
