Netflix canceled the musical comedy-drama television show Julie and the Phantoms after only one season – why did the streaming service end the series?

The musical comedy-drama television series was based on the Brazilian show Julie e os Fantasmas and was created by Dan Cross and David Hoge and executive produced by Kenny Ortega, who had previously signed a multi-year deal with Netflix.
Netflix Decided Not To Renew Julie & The Phantoms For Season 2 Although Julie and the Phantoms received rave reviews from critics and fans alike and won three Daytime Emmy Awards, Netflix waited more than a year to make a concrete decision on its future. The streaming service announced that it would not go forward with a second season for the show on December 18, 2021.
Julie & The Phantoms Wasn't Supposed To End With Season 2 The Julie and the Phantoms season 1 finale ended on a cliffhanger. Luke, Alex, and Reggie believed they would cross over into the afterlife since they thought they had completed their unfinished business by performing with Julie at the Orpheum. However, they never crossed over, and somehow, Luke, Alex, and Reggie were able to touch and hug Julie, and their curse from Caleb was lifted.
