"I don't believe it's in our company's interest to ever be the first mover when it comes to expanding into new categories," Dudum said. Dudum named three major factors about the current state of GLP-1 prescriptions that have given him pause about rolling out a weight-management program at Hims right now — from a lack of evidence of how GLP-1s can affect patients long term, to disruptions in access to the drugs with drug shortages, and unreliable insurance coverage.Dudum expressed concerns about the lack of data on long-term GLP-1 usage for weight loss.
"We're still in the very early innings with regard to what it means long-term, frankly because there have been no patients that have taken this drug long term for obesity," he said.
