BREAKING: Wholesale inflation rises more than expected in September, with prices jumping 8.5%

Still, those figures were both higher than the 8.3% headline figure and 0.3% monthly gain forecast by Refinitiv economists, a worrisome sign for theas it seeks to cool price gains and tame consumer demand with an aggressive interest rate hike campaign. Meanwhile, the services index advanced 0.4% in September, the fifth consecutive rise. Most of the September increase can be attributed to a 0.6% rise in the index for final demand services excluding trade, transportation and warehousing. Prices for final demand transportation and warehousing services actually fell 0.2%.
