Senate confirmation hearings for Supreme Court pick Ketanji Brown Jackson begin
President Joe Biden has nominated Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court, in an historic move that would see the first Black woman serving on the highest court in the nation. Her confirmation hearings before the before the Senate Judiciary Committee begin on Monday.
Second-youngest justice: If confirmed, the 51-year-old Jackson would be the second-youngest justice on the high court, behind Donald Trump appointee Amy Coney Barrett, who is 50. But another Jackson ruling was a blow to Trump, as she ruled against his White House’s efforts to block former counsel Don McGahn from testifying in the congressional impeachment probe. “Presidents are not kings,” she wrote.
