UFC boss Dana White is open to ending his long-running feud with boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya
after the ‘Golden Boy’ recently extended an olive branch.but in April De La Hoya expressed his desire to end the animosity.“I wanna fix things up with Dana,” he told“I criticized the UFC a bit and I was wrong for it but yeah, I would love to patch things up with Dana and [Floyd] Mayweather.”
This could be the end of one of the more amusing sports rivalries that started when rumours about a crossover fight between UFC dual-weight champion Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather began to swirl.
Irked by White crossing over into the boxing world, De La Hoya launched his own now-defunct MMA promotion he hoped would rival the UFC, recruiting fight legends Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz for his first big event. Eight years later, ‘The Iceman’ returned to the cage when De La Hoya gave him a big pay cheque to take on the still active Ortiz for a third time, infuriating White in the process.Getty Images - Getty“I heard last week the cokehead ‘Oscar De La Weirdo’ is talking s*** that I don’t have any place to tell guys when to retire,” White said on UFC Unfiltered in 2018.“Chuck Liddell’s almost 50 years old and has no business fighting anymore.
