Firefighters battled the blaze for over two hours, calling on police to assist with a 13-mile diversion an hour after arriving on the scene.
Motorists in the Highlands were brought to a halt after a lorry caught fire on one of Scotland's busiest roads.
Nobody was injured as a result of the fire. However, the charred remains of the vehicle are understood to still be on the layby. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called around 10.40pm on Tuesday, 7 March, to a report of a lorry on fire on the A9 near Carrbridge. Officers attended to assist the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service with traffic management and the road was closed with a local diversion put in place.
