'Where is our leader? Where are you?' Johnson asked in an eight-minute-plus video shared on Twitter Thursday. 'Where is our leader at this time when our country is down on its knee?'

Actor Dwayne Johnson lamented the lack of a"compassionate leader" in a lengthy video address amid protests around the country, wondering where America might find one to assure them their voices are being heard.shared on Twitter Thursday.

He added:"You have my word that I'm going to do everything in my power until my dying day – my last breath – to create the change that is needed to normalize equality, because black lives matter. Of course, all lives matter. Every single one. All lives matter, because we, as Americans, believe in inclusivity. We believe in acceptance. We believe in human rights. We believe in equality for all... But in this moment right now... we must say the words: Black lives matter.

"There is military force that has been deployed on our own people. Looters? Yes. Criminals? Absolutely. But our protesters, who are begging and pleading and in pain? You would be surprised how people in pain would respond when you say 'I care about you.'" He expressed gratitude to countries around the world for protesting in solidarity with the American people, and shared his optimism that positive change would come.

"As we continue to wait for that leader to emerge, I recommend to all of you that we must become the leaders we're looking for," he said. "We're doing it now... You can feel it. It's going to take time, we're going to get beat up, we're going to take our lumps. There's going to be blood. But the process of change has already begun."
