Nick Fisher formed an unlikely working relationship with the former gangster
When Stockport writer Nick Fisher first contacted 'the most feared man in Britain', he thought he might be in trouble. After releasing Gym'll Fix It, a comedy guide to working out, in 2015, Nick decided to delve into one of Dave Courtney's books.
Fortunately for him, the once notorious London gangster told him 'it's not a problem', and an unlikely working relationship began. In a criminal career which saw him form bonds with the Kray twins, Dave became known as the 'hardest man in Britain' and the 'yellow pages of the underworld'. But the book never materialised. Nick, 60, says he travelled down to see Dave and 'got everything in place', but work stalled after his subject suffered a heart attack.
The 64-year-old was found dead at his home in Plumstead, south east London, yesterday morning. A statement on his official X account said he 'took his own life... with a firearm'.
