The 'Snail Girl' trend, which sees women turn their backs on professional burn out, has gone viral on TikTok, with both Gen Z and Millennials adopting the lifestyle
The Girl Boss era is over, as women are embracing a slower, more relaxed approach to life, and the 'Snail Girl' trend takes over social media.
"In my mind, the snail girl goes slow, retreats when she needs and follows the path at her own pace. She is the opposite of how I’ve felt for the past few years."Ben Richardson, Director and Management Trainer at Acuity Training, explained how the trend impacts both employees and businesses. "However, unlike quiet quitting, which was an unhelpful and toxic approach to dissatisfaction in the workplace, the snail girl trend is more about rebalancing and can actually be healthy when approached correctly.
Ben added: "You shouldn't be expected to have the same level of responsibility as someone in a senior management position when you’re on an intern's wage. That’s just asking for resentment, especially if you’re led to assume that taking on additional tasks will lead to a promotion that isn’t forthcoming."Make sure you have clarity over exactly what your day-to-day responsibilities are.
