On West Sixth Street in Austin, a couple of blocks from the bar-crawling madness, a San Antonio developer is building what will become the city’s tallest tower with all its offices reserved for Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook.

As of January, Meta already had more than 2,000 employees in Austin, up from only seven when the company first established a presence in the city more than a decade earlier, the American-Statesman said.Meta’s lease of the space is one of the biggest lease deals ever for downtown Austin, according to the American-Statesman. The Austin Business Journal points out that the 589,000 square feet of space is larger that the total amount of space within Austin’s Frost Bank Tower.

As of January, Meta planned to keep its other Austin offices, according to a statement provided to the American-Statesman; as of then, the company had 1.5 million square feet of office space in the local market, when including its space at the Domain neighborhood in north Austin.Facebook’s Austin offices are known to have amenities such as art installations and a music stage.
