Federal law enshrined each third Monday of February Presidents Day, in honor of George Washington's birthday. Though the nation's first president holds a special place in history, Americans observe the holiday as an opportunity to celebrate all 45 people who have held the high office. That doesn't mean the president actually gets the day off, of course. After all, Biden is expected to deliver the annual Presidents Day speech. But most everyone else in government gets to close shop. And the holiday spirit extends to other places and businesses, like the stock market, so your trading will have to wait.
