What has happened in Ukraine in the year after the Russian invasion?
One year ago today, Europe saw the first incursion of one nation into another when the Russian army crossed the border to invade Ukraine at the direct orders of Russia's President Vladimir Putin. It's been known for years that Putin's ultimate grand design is to re-establish the Russian empire from before the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution.
One year later, the war rages on in Ukraine, even though Putin had thought his forces would be able to waltz through Ukraine and take over the capital city, Kyiv, within less than a week.
