Why Didn't Willie Scott Return After Indiana Jones & The Temple Of Doom? There are a few reasons Willie never made a return appearance in the Indiana Jones movies. One is that the franchise was very much inspired by the James Bond movies; just as 007 had a new love interest in each film, it was felt Indiana needed a new leading lady too. Another is likely due to the backlash Willie received.
In the long development process between Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade and The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, various story ideas were pitched and rejected. One unused concept was for a film titled Indiana Jones and the Saucermen of Mars, where Willie and Marion were set to cameo at Indiana's wedding.
