British holidaymakers planning a trip to France in the coming weeks could be hit by strike action ⬇️ efeatherstone_ explains:
The railway worker strike days confirmed or considered so far would not fall during the UK school half term. However, further action could be considered if action aimed at reversing French government plans to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64 continues.
More than one million people took part in protests on 19 January and nationwide strikes halted rail services. There was major disruption on railways on both 19 and 20 January and most trains did not run. Subway, tramway, bus, and RER train lines in Ile-De-France were also affected by the strikes.
Eric Becker, FO secretary general, added: “The lifts will operate normally from the next day, we do not want to further weaken companies already in difficulty.” A spokesperson for French tourism agency A Tout France said that this meant “half term should not be impacted” as things stand.
