Pre-tax profits surged by almost eight-fold to £36 million, compared to £4.6 million the year before
It's good news for fans of Wetherspoon, as bosses have announced they could open as many as 200 more branches.
Founder and Chairman Sir Tim Martin says sales "continue to improve" into the new financial year, Kent Live reports. Shareholders were informed by the company on Friday that pre-tax profits surged by almost eight-fold to £36 million for the year to January, compared with £4.6 million a year earlier.The company have benefitted from continued demand and easing cost inflation.
Boss Sir Martin said: "The company currently anticipates a reasonable outcome for the financial year, subject to our future sales performance." This profit news also comes as the company says their 814-strong pub estate will be trimmed as the lease of five will be terminated and three others subletted.
