The leaders of the U.S. House's Northern Border Caucus are calling on Canada and the U.S. to take into account regional differences in Covid-19 caseloads as both countries weigh extending current restrictions on who can cross the land border into July.

The growing consternation among lawmakers representing border districts comes as Ottawa and Washington face a June 22 deadline to extend, amend or eliminate the current restrictions, which limit cross-border travel to "essential" purposes, like trade and returning to one's home country. The governments are widely expected to keep the limits in place into July.
