announced it will close its doors after 42 years in business. Owner Don Blake said he is retiring and wants to do other things.Blake's old-fashioned hamburger won over Houston Chronicle critic Alison Cook back in 2009. "This burger succeeds madly on the sandwich level. It's a judicious mix of flavors and textures: the crusty patty, the soft, sweet slide of caramelized onion, the decided snap of all that crunchy iceberg and pickle," she wrote.
Blake's last day is May 20, but a larger community event celebrating its closure is being planned in the coming months.
