The runoff election for District 4 on the Irving City Council pits an experienced lawyer against a political newcomer. We recommendMotley, 53, has previously served on the Irving Parks and Recreation Board and the Advisory Committee on Disabilities. She also brings to the table 27 years of litigation experience in both private firms and nonprofits. Motley wants to emulate outgoing council member Phil Riddle’s approachability and ability to listen to others, she told us.
Canosa is knowledgeable about Irving issues and has clear policy objectives. He is also bilingual, an asset for a diverse city like Irving. But we give our nod to Motley based on her experience and pragmatic approach to the issues affecting south Irving residents..
