Ohio State safety Josh Proctor has begun doing individual drills in his rehab from a fractured leg sustained last season.
On the far side of the Ohio State practice field, Josh Proctor turned and backpedaled smoothly during an interception drill with the other Buckeye safeties.
“He's just kind of getting started and getting moving around out there with individual drills,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said. “It's been a long road for him to come back from, and that's not easy. He's had a few injuries in his career. I wish he could do more right now, but he's kind of inching his way back. That's OK. It's a long way until August.”
Because of the injuries, Ohio State has seen only glimpses of what Proctor can do. He finished the 2019 Big Ten championship game victory over Wisconsin with a devastating hit on quarterback Jack Coan. During the spring, Proctor will be limited to non-contact work. But Day and new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles eagerly await his full recovery.“I haven't seen him really do anything,” Knowles said. “We need him. We want him. I've seen film on him from last year. He's a guy that can really change the game. He's what we want at safety, so I just want him to get healthy.
