James Garner spoke about his form and the growing belief of his team after Everton's win at Crystal Palace
From the stands, Everton look like a team transformed. On the pitch and at Finch Farm, the same belief is growing.
Emerging from the away dressing room moments after hearing from Sean Dyche and fewer than 15 minutes after celebrating the 3-2 win with his teammates in front of the away end at Selhurst Park, it was clear that the exhaustion he may have felt was a happy, satisfied one.READ MORE: New Everton stadium Christmas aim as route to the bar and giant screens arrive
The 22-year-old started the game in the middle of the midfield, his favoured position. He is on a run of appearances in that role that has gone unbroken despite the returns of Idrissa Gueye and Amadou Onana from injury. His continued selection there suggests the player whose versatility was a saving grace at the end of last season and start of this one has convinced Dyche to look elsewhere for the square pegs when round holes emerge.
Garner was calm under the pressure and composed when it was over, saying after the game: “The manager speaks all the time about having that winning mentality, which you can’t have if you’re losing. We were under pressure for the majority of the game but it was all controlled. As a team, we knew what we were doing. The subs that came on knew their job and we got the game over the line.”
