The reason behind the low water levels is a mystery

Located just south of Elton Reservoir, Withins Reservoir - known locally as Little Raz - is thought to have been built in the 1840s. It is now privately owned.The reservoir was previously drained to dramatically low levels in June 2020 due to vandalism to the sluice gate, which controls the flow of water in the reservoir. However, it was later restored after repairs to the gate.
Bury Council and United Utilities said they could not comment since the reservoir is privately owned. The Environment Agency have been contacted for comment.
