Sen. Lindsey Graham is the latest Republican to condemn Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's investigation that could result in the indictment of former President Donald Trump, saying the case is"without merit."
Graham's remarks come on the same day Trump had predicted he would be arrested in an announcement via Truth Social over the weekend. He decried"illegal leaks" and a"highly political" prosecutor preparing to take him into custody. Trump's comments referred to Bragg's investigation into hush money payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016. Several reports indicate that Bragg is preparing to indict Trump on criminal charges.
Cohen pleaded guilty in 2018 to paying Daniels $130,000 during the 2016 campaign to prevent her from going public about an alleged affair she had with the former president in 2005.
