Digital renderings have taken over the internet but aclaimed automotive designer Chip Foose shows us how he creates beautiful illustrations by hand
starts with some loose sketches so the designer can quickly explore and finalize his idea. Once he is happy with it he transfers the lines to a clean sketch using the much-loved Bic pen. The shadows are applied with special markers, with a thin white paintbrush used for the highlights and the shiny bits. Finally, Chip uses an airbrush for the background effects, creating a burn-out fog around the vehicle.
