Washington State is a public university and falls under the vaccine mandate’s purview under the “higher education personnel” category. As of Oct. 4, about 92% of state workers were in compliance with the mandate, according to Inslee. Rolovich, the state’s highest paid employee with an annual salary of over $2.8 million, said he applied for a religious exemption in effort to not be vaccinated, but that claim appears to have been denied.
“This is a disheartening day for our football program. Our priority has been and will continue to be the health and well-being of the young men on our team,” WSU Athletic Director Pat Chun wrote to MarketWatch in an email. The leadership on our football team is filled with young men of character, selflessness and resiliency and we are confident these same attributes will help guide this program as we move forward.
