The cleanup effort has taken place annually for the last 18 years.
According to Christine Everett, Board Chair of the Tanana Valley Watershed Association , in that time volunteers have found some interesting things, including appliances as large as a refrigerator. “Lots of shopping carts, bikes, tires, lots of tires,” Everett said. “We’ve seen camping gear, a full-sized tent a one point... it’s amazing what all you can find out there.”
This event, run by TVWA, is sponsored by the Fairbanks Stormwater Advisory Committee, and includes help from the Fairbanks Host Lions Club.
