After being seen by the waiting authorities, the Virgin aircraft was able to make its way to the terminal gate for around 11.20am. The plane is due to make a return journey to Orlando this afternoon, but the take-off time has been delayed by an hour until 2.20pm. Other flights due to take off from Edinburgh between 10am and 11am were delayed due to the incident.
An Edinburgh Airport spokesperson said: "Our teams were made aware of an issue with the inbound Virgin Atlantic flight and as a precaution stood up response procedures as is standard practice.
