Seaside Revival, the vintage festival celebrating Bangor’s heyday as a prominent seaside resort, returns to the new city’s seafront this summer. A celebration of all things vintage, local and seaside-inspired, around 20,000 people are expected to attend the free event in the McKee Clock arena area overlooking Bangor Marina.
With live music, swing dancing, classic cars and a vintage car boot sale, the festival will run on Saturday, August 13. Headlining the music line-up are Seaside Revival favourites, rockabilly band the Sabrejets. Also performing are Bangor duo Jenna Frazer and David Arthur who’ll be singing hits from the American big band era. Organised by Open House, this year’s event is supported by Ards and North Down Borough Council and Tourism NI.Open House Director, Kieran Gilmore said: "From the 1940s to the mid-70s, Bangor was a thriving seaside town with a strong local community and a successful tourism economy.
There will also be DJs playing vintage tunes throughout the afternoon, with dancing from the era of swing, jazz and big band – a nod to Bangor’s famous dancehall days at Caproni’s, Milano’s and The Savoy. The Vintage car show will take place in the bottom section of Queen’s Parade car park, with prizes for Best Original Car, Best Classic Car, Best Classic Bike, Best Classic Van and Best Modified Classic.
Judging and presentation will take place on the day and all registered entrants will receive an official Seaside Revival certificate. Other features include a vintage car boot sale, vintage makeovers, food trucks and a pop-up bar.
