Video shows why Cowboys, Jerry Jones owe Oxnard neighbors an apology | Opinion

The Cowboys have said they got all the necessary permits required to erect the temporary tent, which would come down after training camp ends in August. But Barry P. Goldberg, the attorney representing some of the residents, told us he has yet to see those permits. The Cowboys haven’t produced them and the city of Oxnard directed him to their online search system, where they couldn’t be located.

Did someone drop the ball here? In any case, clearly this is a fumble. Even if the permits are located and the team can show it did nothing wrong, the Cowboys’ decision to set up such an intrusive hospitality tent was anything but hospitable. It’s late in the fourth quarter; training camp opens on July 26 and players and coaches arrive in Oxnard on Monday. But it’s not too late for the front office to scramble and recover from this unfortunate play call. They should apologize and resolve their differences with the residents. If they don’t, well, that sure doesn’t bode well for the upcoming season.
