A model with Down syndrome is thanking Victoria’s Secret for including her in a new lingerie collection.
Puerto Rican fashion model Sofía Jirau revealed she’s made history as the lingerie brand’s first model with Down syndrome in an Instagram post she shared on Monday, Feb. 14, the day Victoria’s Secret announced it’d launch a Love Cloud Collection."One day I dreamed it, I worked on it and today it is a dream come true. I can finally tell you my big secret… I am the first Victoria's Secret model with Down syndrome," Jirau wrote, in Spanish.
Puerto Rican fashion model Sofía Jirau makes history as the first model with Down syndrome in a Victoria Secret campaign. Jirau joins the lingerie brand in its new Love Cloud Collection. Jirau got her start as a model in 2019 and made her New York Fashion Week debut on Feb. 10, 2020. She has since modeled for companies and magazines, including Walgreen’s Puerto Rico, Vogue Mexico, People en Español and Alavett – Jirau’s self-owned clothing and home decor brand.
"This campaign was brought life with an incredible cast of women with unique backgrounds, experiences, abilities and stories," Victoria’s Secret told FOX Business.The Love Cloud Collection is reportedly made from soft fabric and features the lingerie brand’s signature gold V-hardware. It’s available for purchase nationwide starting Thursday, Feb. 17.
