Veterans happy to return to annual holiday luncheon hosted by Vermilion High School students
VERMILION, Ohio -- Eighty-two-year-old Army veteran Tom Hoffman of Vermilion was elated to be attending Thursday’s Veterans Luncheon hosted by Vermilion High School students.
“I think Kristy is doing a very tremendous job for the service people,” Hoffman said. He has attended every year since 1999, when Edmison started the luncheon as a 22-year-old, first-year social studies teacher at the high school. Honors Social Studies 1 students prepared all the food -- including lasagna and mac & cheese -- and helped the veterans navigate the buffet line and gave an extra hand to carry back a plate full of desserts. The dessert spread was the most popular stop.
