Val Kilmer's Madmartigan will 'live on' in new 'Willow' series.
“Val’s a huge part of this, and the first conversation I had, when Warwick and I got the greenlight to do this, was with Val,” Kasdan said. “We wanted his character to be a part of the story. We wanted him to be in the show.”
Kasdan added, however, that due to COVID-19 restrictions, Kilmer was unable to shoot in Wales with the main unit. “But he is in the show in a big way. And we’re pretty excited about it.” He concluded that “Madmartigan lives on.” Whether this means there are flashbacks to the original film and deep conversations about the character’s lore, or if Kilmer shot inserts in front of a greenscreen somewhere in Studio City remains to be seen.
