Woodward is helping Ashley’s mother advocate for the law which would protect vulnerable adults – like Ashley – who has a rare disorder called Rett syndrome. “There is this big hole there, and we don’t treat these crimes as seriously as we should or punish them as severely as we should,” Woodward said.
