It was a good reminder that for all the work there is still left to be done, women – the U.S. women, women's sports, women in general – have come so far in such a short time. And we are all the better for it.
Fifty years ago, women in England wouldn't have been allowed near their national field. Four days ago, a report showed that there are still some who think it's OK to diminish and demean women, believing they're entitled to their bodies and souls. But on Friday, the U.S. and England women played the game they love so much, with a sold-out crowd cheering them on.
