The duo won two Big 12 titles together and reached the Playoff in 2019. ’s defense showed modest improvement but was never elite. Grinch’s best year with the Sooners came in the pandemic-altered 2020 season; the team ranked 26th in yards per play allowed and 28th in scoring.
