Dozens of university groups appeared to applaud the attack by terrorist organization Hamas.
Harvard University , the City College of New York , Portland State University , Yale University Student-led groups across the U.S. backed Palestine amid the invasion of Israel over the weekend, with some seemingly applauding the attack by terrorist organization Hamas.
"The events of October 7th are not an isolated event but the inevitable outcome of a decades-long apartheid and suffocating blockade, in addition to a year of escalated settler violence against civilians in the West Bank," Yalies4Palestine said. "The resistance is the consequence of the longstanding and ongoing Zionist colonization."In the group's statement, Yalies4Palestine noted that it would host a rally Monday to "uplift the calls of the resistance.
"They have the absolute right to defend themselves by any means necessary," the group wrote on Instagram, "What we are seeing here is revolutionary and an act of liberation."The Portland State University group went on to say that "the process of decolonization is not the equivalent of terrorism." Hamas, the militant group behind the surprise attack on Israel, is recognized as a terrorist organization by dozens of countries, including the U.S.
