“This confirmatory study verified that it is a safe and effective treatment for patients with Alzheimer’s disease,” senior FDA official Teresa Buracchio said in a statement. Approximately 6.5 million Americans suffer from Alzheimer’s, which is characterised by memory loss and declining mental acuity.
